Tuesday, March 21st, 2006 - Press Coverage in Gainesville Sun

Sorry for the lack of updates, folks! The site has been more alive than ever, and we're rapidly approaching the 1,000-user mark. Our post rate has gone up dramatically, mostly due to increased per-user contributions and more overall available help on the website. Thank you, everyone, for making Campus Open Course into what it is today!

In other news, we're in the news again! This time it's an article in The Sun focusing on what we can provide as a discussion forum for students.

Wednesday, February 1st, 2006 - New Profile System Launched

The profile system has been entirely redesigned, and is now much more organized and concise. User online status has been integrated, as well as a field for users to post general personal information about themselves. An in-profile feedback section has also been added.

Wednesday, January 25th, 2006 - Academic Staff Supports Campus Open Course

Our community has grown to almost 400 users, and our hits have been increasing steadily over the past week. We have gained the support of numerous faculty members at the University of Florida, and we thank them for their help in allowing us to reach the very large academic community here at UF.

Thursday, January 19th, 2006 - Tell-a-Friend System is Operational

After receiving many emails from users eager to help spread the word, we've implemented a Tell-a-Friend system that allows for users to send emails to potential new Campus Open Course members, post a link in their AIM profile, blog, or website, or get a URL to use in their Facebook profile.

Tuesday, January 12th, 2006 - Marketing Program Continues

Our website now has over 140 users, and we are rapidly receiving a growing number of posts. Still, the best type of forum is a very active one, so we are continuing to seek out new forms of advertising as we distribute our information in every nook and cranny across the University of Florida campus. We now have large 34" x 60" banners available as well, and we've begun some email marketing as well.

If anyone is interested in helping us spread the word about Campus Open Course, let us know, and we'll hook you up with a free Campus Open Course t-shirt!

Tuesday, January 10th, 2006 - Opening Day Goes Better Than Planned

After being launched yesterday, we started receiving a steady stream of hits to the website. However, this stream soon turned into a river as more and more users poured in. We had over 75 users registered in our opening day alone, and we kicked our marketing campaign into full gear after seeing this good news.

Monday, January 9th, 2006 - Campus Open Course Officially Launched!

Campus Open Course has been released to the public, and is being kicked off by an agressive marketing campaign by our street team. The users have started pouring in (we're getting about eight new registrations an hour right now), and things are only going to get bigger and better from here.

An update on yesterday's news: the article is now available on The Alligator's website.

Sunday, January 8th, 2006 - Interview Conducted With The Alligator (a local Gainesville newspaper)

Campus Open Course is having its first news coverage on the day of the launch of the offical working version of the site (after a very short beta-testing period). The article will be released in The Alligator on Monday, January 9th, 2006, and will feature content from the interview conducted today with the Campus Open Course founders as well as a photo to be taken later today.

Thursday, January 5th, 2006 - Campus Open Course Has Officially Launched Beta!

Campus Open Course is now public! Due to our popular demand and plenty of hype from The Gainesville Sun and Facebook, we have managed to release a beta (test version) of our website. During the next week, Campus Open Course will be evolving rapidly, and we will be implementing many changes. A new idea that was recently presented before launch was our Karma Ladder Sytem! We thought this would be a fun feature that would allow students to get publicity, and to be known and praised for their helpfulness! Please contact us with your thoughts, ideas, bugs, suggestions, or anything that comes to mind. We look forward to hearing from you and appreciate your feedback. Thank you to all of our friends and family who supported us. We are sorry about all of the pestering during development! And last not but not least, thanks to our users for reading this!
